Drawing in Presence, The Art of Slowing Down (Sept 19)

from $20.00

Facilitator: Ellen Stern
Dates: Saturday, September 19th
Time: 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Where: Ulna Art Studio, 215 SE Morrison

Sliding Scale Prices $20, $30, $40

Come settle into a quiet space for reflection and creation.
We’ll begin with a guided 20-minute meditation, followed by simple, intuitive art-making. The session offers time to pause, listen inwardly, and let the process unfold naturally.
No experience with art or meditation is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to slow down.

About the instructor: Ellen Stern is a Portland-based artist whose work is deeply influenced by her ancestors—people of all genders whose crochet, weaving, embroidery, painting, woodworking, and photography shaped her sense of craft and care. A retired psychotherapist and long-time meditation practitioner, Ellen sees painting as both refuge and offering: a continuation of ancestral traditions, a practice of attention, and an invitation to pause and wonder. She currently leads a weekly meditation group at Art at the Cave in Vancouver, Washington, open to all.
